The Bad Seed

Sides will be provided at the auditions. No preparation or sign up is required!

The Bad Seed is a suspenseful thriller about Rhoda Penmark, a seemingly normal and polite young person. Behind her charm, Rhoda is a cold and calculating murderer. Her mother, Christine, slowly realizes that Rhoda inherited a dark, murderous genetic trait from her own birth mother.

Performances will be October 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 and November 1.

 

We are looking for performers age 18 and up (except for the role of Rhoda Penmark) to fill the following roles:

  • Rhoda Penmark

    • Age: 9-14

    • Description: Christine's daughter, has no concept of right and wrong

    • Role: Lead antagonist

  • Christine Penmark

    • Age: 30s

    • Description: Rhoda’s loving, gentle, and deeply ethical mother

    • Role: Lead protagonist

  • Kenneth Penmark

    • Age: 30s to 40s

    • Description: Rhoda’s father and Christine’s husband

    • Role: Supporting role

  • Monica Breedlove

    • Age: 40s to 50s

    • Description: The talkative, energetic, and slightly nosy neighbor

    • Role: Supporting role

  • Emory Breedlove

    • Age: 40s to 50s

    • Description: Monica’s genial, down-to-earth brother

    • Role: Supporting role

  •  Emelio Daigle

    • Age: 50s to 60s

    • Description: The building gardener and handyman

    • Role: Supporting role

  • Hortense Daigle

    • Age: 30s to 40s

    • Description: The grieving, distraught mother of the boy who died

    • Role: Supporting/Character role

  • Miss Fern

    • Age: 40s to 60s

    • Description: The proud headmistress of Rhoda's school

    • Role: Minor/Supporting role

  • Leroy Jessup

    • Age: 20s to 40s

    • Description: The building caretaker who teases Rhoda and suspects she is dangerous

  • Reginald Tasker

    • Age: 30s to 50s

    • Description: Crime writer, friend of family

  • Richard Bravo

    • Age: 50s to 60s

    • Description: Christine's adoptive father.

    • Role: Supporting role
