Thursday evening, the Indiana Players Board of Directors made the difficult and unfortunate decision to cancel our planned production of "The Return of John Brown" due to casting complications and lack of necessary resources.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who worked so hard over the last several months in trying to bring this opportunity to the Indiana community. We would like to particularly recognize the following supporters:
Tony DeLoreto
Jim Doughtery
Michael Schwartz
Lil Clemons
Patti Holmes
Griff Lotson
David Jordan Hanson
Rick Purcell
Kay Menifee
Connie Jellison
Pastor Melvin Jenkins and Victory Christian Assembly
Dr. Princes and the Indiana County NAACP
Denise Jennings and the Blairsville Area Underground Railroad
Jonathan Bogert and the Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County
Faculty and Staff from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania
...and so many others
Most importantly we would like to recognize the playwright, Gene Bruskin, a former labor union organizer of 40 years who has dedicated his retirement to writing musicals inspired by the working-class and social-justice issues he has devoted his life to fighting. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors with "The Return of John Brown" and more musicals to come!
The Indiana Players will still present a full mainstage season for the Indiana County and Western Pennsylvania community as planned. An announcement will be made next week revealing the Indiana Players' 2023-2024 season lineup including our new season opener to fill the void of "The Return of John Brown." Performance dates will remain unchanged.
