Call for Proposals

Interested in directing next season? Do you have a play in mind you want to propose? We always need directors and welcome a wide variety of shows. Whether you’re thinking a comedy or a drama, a musical or a Shakespeare, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a form to fill out that can be found by clicking here. We also have a sample form by clicking here. These forms are somewhat generic and may have sections that in no way apply to what you’re trying to propose. Simply fill out the form to the best of you ability and if we have questions, we’ll get them to you.

In general, we are looking for a few key pieces of info in your proposals. Who are you? What kind of experience do you have? What play are you proposing? (Give us a quick summary.) How complicated is it to perform? How much will it cost? How many people will you need? Why do you think we should do it? Those are just the basics, but that should give you an idea of what to start.

We suggest you submit proposals for more than one play if you’re interested. As we try to balance out the season, sometimes we are looking for a specific genre so we don’t end up with all dramas or all mysteries. If you submit more than one proposal, you give the Selection Committee more to work with as they try to create a complete and exciting season. So check out the forms, fill ‘em out,  send them in, and we hope to work with you soon!

Other Proposals

The Indiana Players are all about theater, but we can’t put on a play every weekend of the year. However, even when there is no show, bills must be paid. Do you have any ideas of things we can do at the Playhouse when there is no show going on? A poetry reading? Band night? Film fest? Why not propose to do something?

Keep in mind that there is probably a show rehearsing during the week and they probably have a set. We can put up a screen and we can move furniture off of the stage, but we can’t tear down walls or repaint. Still, the possibilities are endless. Help us keep the Playhouse filled every weekend.
