The Mystery of Irma Vep
August 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17

Charles Ludlam's The Mystery of Irma Vep is the definitive spoof of Gothic melodramas. Recently revived Off Broadway to rave reviews, this farce is a quick change marathon in which two actors play all the roles. A sympathetic werewolf, a vampire and an Egyptian princess brought to life when her tomb is opened make this a comedy that has everything. The Mystery of Irma Vep is a hilarious send up of Hitchcock's Rebecca, Bronte's Jane Eyre and Victorian cross dressing. Starring Ray Cupples and Peter Miltz.

"A really good laugh ... The story has to be seen to be believed." New York Post

"Lunatic fun that keeps you in stitches." New York Daily News

"A true vaudeville tour de farce.... It's wonderful." Time

Show dates are August 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17.

Fridays & Saturdays 8:00 p.m. , Sundays 2:00 p.m.
Tickets: $10.00 — Students/Seniors: $8.00

Congratulations to Jonathan Fridg and the cast and crew of Harvey for their successful run. Way to go!

Johns as Corresponding Secretary, Cathy Martz as Fundraiser Coordinator, and Mike Edgar as Hard Tech Director, to which he was appointed at the previous month's board meeting. Katrina Kayden and James Chapman were reelected to the positions of, respectively, Soft Tech Director and Vice President. Although there were no nominations for the position of President at the annual meeting, Ray Cupples was nominated and voted in as the new President at the regular Board of Directors meeting on June 3. Thank You!

Karolyn Grimes, Zuzu from It’s a Wonderful Life, appeared at the Philadelphia Street Playhouse on June 22, signing autographs and talking with fans just prior to Sunday's matinee performance of Harvey! We offer our gratitude to her for again making the Playhouse part of her visit to Indiana.

Karolyn Grimes with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in It's a Wonderful Life.

Her character in It's a Wonderful Life is well known for her line, "Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings." Grimes was born in Hollywood and had appeared in four films when she took the part as Zuzu. She has worked with film legends including John Wayne, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby, Loretta Young, Fred MacMurray, Betty Grable and Danny Kaye as well as Jimmy Stewart.

Many of the master tapes of old IPI performances, stored in Jim Chapman’s house, were lost when fire destroyed his home. Please help us to rebuild our library of past shows. If you or someone you know has recordings of old performances, please contact helptheplayhouse@yourinter.net so we can create copies for posterity.
