The Indiana Players’
Building Fund Campaign

Dear Theater Patron,

For more than thirty years, the Indiana Players, your nonprofit, 501c3 Community Theater Troupe, has been providing quality, family-oriented theatrical experiences for Indiana and surrounding communities. In the past twelve years, we produced eighty-seven shows in the Indiana Theater building and maintained our solvency without the help of fundraising campaigns. We are very proud of our record and of the people who make the Indiana Players an accomplished and enthusiastic family.

On September 12, 2005, the Players ended a three-year hiatus when we signed the closing papers on the purchase of a building in downtown Indiana. The working name of our theater is the Philadelphia Street Playhouse—Home of the Indiana Players, Inc. If anyone steps up with a sizeable contribution, the Playhouse could be named as he/she/they wish. This structurally sound shell of a building at 725 Philadelphia Street (that already has forced air heat and central air conditioning), will be renovated into a 144-seat proscenium performance space. It is our intention to be in a position to offer a full schedule of shows plus adult and children’s workshops for the 2006-2007 season.

As noted above, we have the talent and tenacity to be a completely independent volunteer community theater. However, having autonomy comes with a price tag—about $200,000 in construction and decoration costs. To make this a reality, we need financial help. In addition, our new annual operating costs will include taxes, insurance, and mortgage payments. Since we poured thousands of dollars worth of improvements into the Indiana Theater building every year we were there, we have no doubt that we will be able to cover the operating costs.  It is the start-up money we are now seeking, so that we will be in a position to schedule unimpeded auditions, rehearsals, and unlimited adult and children’s workshops for all those interested in theatre arts. Also, we plan to offer the use of our Playhouse to the other cultural organizations in Indiana and surrounding communities.

We appeal to you now, our patrons of the arts, to assist with our Building Fund Campaign. A financial gift from everyone who has benefited from the cultural experiences offered by the Indiana Players, on or off stage, will be the key to our success. This is an opportunity for you to invest in the future of your local theater so that we can continue to nurture the community and its youth with positive growth experiences. We believe that our presence in downtown Indiana also will enhance its economy.

The Certificate of Support covers the categories of giving. Whether you contribute a one-time donation toward the building renovation or make a perpetual gift to help defray annual operating expenses; or both, every tax-deductible gift helps. As our Playhouse renovation progresses, it is our intention to acknowledge your generosity on the premises, appropriately and visibly, unless you indicate otherwise on the Certificate of Support. Together we can make this happen—so LET’S DO IT NOW!

Sincerely yours,
Frances Stineman
